Today’s Pride events often feature large corporate sponsors, family-friendly activities, live entertainment, and celebrations that draw thousands of people. While these events are important and enjoyable, many mature members of our community remember a very different experience.
Decades ago, simply being openly gay could carry significant personal, professional, and social risks. Many people found support in hidden social circles, private gatherings, and community spaces that existed largely out of public view.
